When I was young I used to sit with my Mom in the guest bedroom and watch the good storms roll in with the window open, lights out. Everything is so calm. There is a cool breeze in my face. Lightning dances across the sky. There is nothing else. Just you, the storm and the ones you love. Makayla and I continued this ritual tonight. We watched a good storm come in from the North. We both just watched. Waiting for it to beat down upon us. Makayla didn’t make a noise. Neither did I. She eventually went to sleep and I was left with my thoughts.

Storm is getting closer, I fear. I don’t know what to expect and what to prepare for. Drops of rain begin to fall as if to try to warn me. As if the approaching roars of thunder are not enough.

I hope we are ready to whether this burly storm.
